Making a new friend is a rare and beautiful thing, especially when you reach a certain age where you are too preoccupied to even spend time with your old friends. A celebrity’s life can go two ways: either they’re spending long days and nights on sets and in recording studios, or they’re on vacation enjoying themselves. So when you meet a friend that is in the same line of business as you, let’s just say that sparks fly.

Seeing celebrities hang out together can be a strange thing to see - it’s like seeing a tiger and a lamb walking down the street, paw in hoof. In truth, just because you’ve filmed a movie with someone, that does not mean that you are going to get along with them off set. But sometimes, just sometimes, a connection happens that could last a lifetime.

When you’re a pop star or an actor, it could be weird to become friends with someone in the same line of work as you. Yes, some friendships are predictable, but sometimes working numerous days with someone that you are very similar to can drive you bonkers. Still, against all odds, these celebs have found comfort in each other’s company.

Here is a list of celebs you never would have thought were best buds.

15. Taylor Swift & Selena Gomez

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been close friends for nearly 10 years, which is surprising because most people did not even know they existed that long ago. Either way they found each other and have supported one another ever since. I guess at this point, everyone knows that Taylor Swift writes her songs by talking about personal experiences (which can either be seen as good for her career or bad for her relationships). Gomez has even stated that Swift helped her get over her breakup up with Justin Bieber by encouraging her to express herself through her music. Gomez and Swift might not look like they would be close friends, but when you listen to their styles of music and the image that they try to convey, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that they are compatible. These beautiful, young women keep rocking the charts, and still find time to touch base.

14. Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Channing Tatum

When you are best friends with someone, it is almost customary to fear for their safety. But when it comes to the Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum, safety can sometimes get taken a little too far. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum have reportedly been best buds since they were in high school, so when the two actors spent some time together in New York, things got a little up close and personal. Tatum decided to prove to his long time friend that he needed to be a little safer, and so he climbed up to Gordon-Levitt’s apartment and broke into it in the middle of the night. Tatum roused him from his sleep, proving that anyone with ill intentions could have done the same. Either Tatum is completely insane, or he likes to get his point across. One way or the other, Gordon-Levitt will definitely be locking his doors and shutting his windows from now on.

13. Drew Barrymore & Ellen Page

Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page first got familiar on the set of the movie Whip It, a roller derby sensation directed by our very own Drew Barrymore. Rumours arose shortly after their new found friendship when Ellen Page came out as a lesbian back in 2009. With Barrymore’s open bisexuality, it's not hard to see why some people would assume this to be true. Whether this is true or not, both women remain close friends, and sometimes maybe more than that. Both actresses have a special type of humour and fashion style, and they are not the girly-girl type, so as surprising as their friendship can be to some, it also makes a lot of sense.

12. Tobey Maguire & Leo DiCaprio

Tobey Maguire and Leo DiCaprio don’t seem to share much besides the screen of the Great Gatsby. But in reality, they share a friendship that has lasted 28 years. The two met at an audition when they were kids, and have shared a friendship that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. DiCaprio even admits to having felt an instant bond between them all those years ago, and did not hesitate to ask for Maguire’s number. Funny enough, Maguire was not as excited about the friendship, but DiCaprio made sure not to let him slip away. Both of them are almost inseparable and tend to enjoy normal bromance activities such as watching games and scuba diving.

11. George Clooney & Brad Pitt

How much do we really know about George Clooney? Yes, he has the reputation of being a sly, silver fox on the big screen, but who is he really in his day to day life? Clooney has been good friends with Brad Pitt ever since they were casted together in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven, but what they consider a friendship can be seen as peculiar to some. For instance, Clooney has been pranking Pitt since the beginning, and he doesn’t seem to be cutting the poor guy any slack. Clooney himself has admitted that some of his pranks might one day “land him behind bars.” One time, he even got Pitt stopped by the police by putting a sticker on his bumper in the shape of a pot leaf, and if that’s not bad enough, it said “ F**k Cops.”

10. Edward Norton & Mark Ruffalo

Some friendships are strong enough to withstand anything that comes their way. But when it comes to Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo’s relationship, well, let’s just say it’s so strong it can go up against the Hulk and still stand upright. These two actors are not only amazing at what they do, they also don’t let little things such as casting get in the way of their relationship. When Norton made the choice to turn down the role of the Hulk in Marvel’s Avengers, he did not bat an eye when his good pal Ruffalo got chosen to be his replacement. In fact, he even said that not only is Ruffalo one of his closest pals, but he is also one of his favorite actors. It may not have worked out for Norton, but a good friend never takes away an amazing opportunity from someone they care about.

9. Dakota Fanning & Kristen Stewart

What does Dakota Fanning have in common with Kristen Stewart? Well, they’re both actresses but besides that, that pairing seems rather unlikely. But oddly enough, ever since these young celebrities met, they’ve formed quite the friendship. Fanning even goes as far as saying that when she’s with Stewart, they don’t talk about things like acting; they simply enjoy each other’s company. But even though these celebs don’t talk about their careers too often, they are no strangers when it comes to working together. Their friendship sprouted when they first acted together in 2007’s Cutlass, and they did not stop sharing the screen until  Twilight Saga ended. Although both women live busy lives, they make it a priority to enjoy the small things in life, like staying in together and relaxing.

8. Jennifer Garner & Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner are living proof that it is never too late to make new friends. These two women met on the set of Valentine’s Day back in 2010, and have been crushing ever since. Biel has even stated that she looks at Garner with admiration, because anytime she feels like she has too much on her plate, she looks over at Garner’s and wonders, “How does she do it?” Both actresses have their respectable partners and families, but spend whatever free time they have together. They enjoy partaking in fun and girly activities, especially since they feel they are constantly surrounded by men. It may come as a surprise that these two ladies are friends and not sisters, especially with how close they have gotten in a matter of six years.

7. Rihanna & Jim Parsons

We all know who Rihanna is, but who is Jim Parsons? He's that adorable yet aggravating genius from The Big Bang Theory that goes by the name of Sheldon. But what is he doing with Rihanna? The two met on the set of the animated movie Home that came out in 2015 and have since formed quite the original friendship. As you can imagine, Parsons has a lot of energy, and a small filter, so it didn’t take long for him to get on Rihanna’s nerves. Parsons would do this by constantly singing Rihanna’s songs to her, which she hated. I guess you could call this a love/hate relationship, but Parsons eventually won her over and the pair have become quite friendly.

6. David Beckham & Snoop Dogg

David Beckham and Snoop Dogg don’t seem like they would have anything in common with each other. On one hand, Snoop is a rap artist with a hilarious sense of humour, and Beckham is an ex-football player with a more tight-lipped appearance. But all that changes once the pair are within close proximity of one another. Beckham becomes a smiling fool and Snoop is his ever so trusting mate. Snoop Dogg even admits to letting Beckham in on his unreleased tracks before they hit the radio. These celebs are so close that Snoop even takes credit for Beckham and his wife’s fourth child. He states that he encouraged Beckham to go for number four shortly after the couple celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary. Snoop was proud to find out that his buddy would be expecting a little girl back in 2011, who would eventually become the perfect playmate for his daughter Chocolate.

5. Beyonce & Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyonce might not seem like they would ever have the chance to meet, but good people are often brought together by being at the right place at the right time. In fact, despite the rumours that both women met through their husbands, the pair actually met at a benefit in New York City. Paltrow and her ex-husband Chris Martin quickly grew fond of the kind and successful Beyonce and Jay Z, and both Jay and Bey were proud to say that the feeling was mutual. These couples were seen supporting each other at numerous concerts and events, or just kicking back and enjoying life. Paltrow and Martin were even present when Jay Z and B got married back in 2008. Although Paltrow and Martin decided to split in 2014, all four celebs managed to not let this alter their friendship.

4. Christian Bale & Winona Ryder

Christian Bale and Winona Ryder have been friends ever since they met on the set of Little Women back in 1994. While some might think that they would be the perfect couple, it appears that friendship is the only thing that will ever go on between them. Bale even owes Ryder for having introduced him to his wife, Sibi Blazic, who was Ryder’s personal assistant. Both Ryder and Bale went on to have exceptional careers, but they always stayed humble and made sure to keep in touch. Even though they both lead busy and different lives, their bond has lasted for over two decades, and doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.

3. Tyra Banks & Clay Aiken

Clay Aiken was the runner up to American Idol, but he is so much more than that. For starters, he is one of Tyra Banks' closest friends, a singer and a proud father. Although the two of them might not live in the same city, they always make it a point to catch up whenever one or the other is in town. Aiken even made an appearance as a judge on Banks' reality TV show America’s Next Top Model. When asked about his relationship with Banks, Aiken replied without a heartbeat, “I love her to death.” In retrospect, Banks took another route in describing their friendship. She even went as far as calling herself a “Clay-frican American.” Banks might have some competition when it comes to the love Aiken receives from his fans, who call themselves “Claymates,” but when it comes to these celebs, let’s just say they’re crushing pretty hard on each other.

2. Mandy Moore & Kelly Osbourne

When it comes to Mandy Moore, it almost seems like we have her all figured out. We tend to believe that she is a sweet girl with the voice of an angel and the face to match. But you can tell a lot about someone by looking at who they hang out with. Kelly Osbourne might not have seemed like the best match for the simpleton that is Moore, especially after hearing Osbourne’s hit song “Papa Don’t Preach,” but despite all odds, the two of them just clicked. Moore and Osbourne stated that they met on MTV’s Spring Break and later had supper with a group of friends. To their dismay, the food they ate turned out to be disgusting, but oddly enough, their meal is what brought them together. These two young ladies even admitted that “s**t talking” is their favourite hobby.

1.Courteney Cox & Ed Sheeran

When it comes to actress Courteney Cox and singer Ed Sheeran, you wouldn’t really believe that there is a connection between the two of them, right? Guess again. These pals can be seen doing anything from grabbing drinks, to lending each other their houses. While Sheeran was recording his second album X, he was actually living inside of Cox’s pool house. To pay her back, Sheeran did much more than give her money or an IOU. Instead he found her a husband - Sheeran introduced Cox to Johnny McDaid, a musician from the band Snow Patrol, and sparks flew instantly. But if that isn’t enough, he even offered to sing at their wedding and become an ordained minister, so he could be the one to marry them. Although Cox and McDaid called off their 2015 engagement and temporarily split up, the two reconciled and have put the wedding back on the table for 2016.
