Jewel Shares Swimsuit Photos Amid Kevin Costner Dating Rumors
Jewel is heating up the Caribbean in her swimsuit. In a few recent social media posts the singer, who is rumored to be dating newly divorced Yellowstone star Kevin Costner, 68, shows off her amazing body in a black bathing suit while attending a charity event with him on Richard Branson's Necker Island. She shared the images via her Instagram Stories. How does the 49-year-old look half her age? Celebwell rounded up her top health habits.
"I didn't know what mindfulness was. Nobody did back then that I was aware of," Jewel told Alive about her journey. "Each day, I began noticing my thoughts. I doubled down on observing where my mind and hands* were leading me, creating gaps in my thinking, breaking up my habit loops, and curating healthier thoughts," she added. "I developed these exercises out of necessity. needed solutions that worked so I could have a better experience in life because I was really unhappy and tremendously uncomfortable most of the time. The big breakthrough was when I realized that my happiness begins and ends with me. If I'm present and in the moment, I am capable of maintaining my happiness even when life is throwing darts at me."
"I start my day with meditation and I still write a lot, but I don't have to write down all of my thoughts that come to me … I try to live each part of my day mindfully and in the moment, not worrying about the past or thinking to the future," Jewell told Alive, revealing her 10-second breathing meditation. You have no excuse not to do it because who doesn't have 10 seconds? You can even do it on the toilet," she added.
- Sit up in a comfortable position.
- Follow your breathing.
- When you breathe in, count one.
- When you breathe out, count two.
- Go up to 10 and then back down to zero.
"If you drift off into thought, that is great and normal," advises Jewel. "Simply notice the thought and lovingly bring your attention back to your breath. If you forget the number you were at, you can just pick any number and continue the exercise. That's it!"
Jewell makes sure she gets all the nutrients she needs via supplements. "I'm a health nut and take lots of vitamins," she told Alive.
Exercise is another part of Jewel's wellness equation. "If I need a big boost, extreme cardio gives me energy. If I'm anxious and feeling drained, I'll do yoga because it is really calming, and it gives me a nice, peaceful energy," she said. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. "Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood," they said. "People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating."
Jewel maintains that "getting eight to nine hours of sleep," is crucial for her health. What are the health benefits of sleep? According to the Sleep Foundation, getting enough z's is a mood booster, promotes heart health, regulates blood sugar, improves mental function, restores your immune system, helps relieve stress, and aids in weight loss.
Jewel also prioritizes hydration. She says that "drinking a gallon of water a day," keeps her healthy. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.
Finally, "only eating the healthiest of foods can mean the difference between unhappiness and being at peace," says Jewel. "I try to follow a 'biblical diet,' which has nothing to do with religion, but with eating things as they originally came out of the ground, before there was genetic altering of food. I think we out-clever ourselves with food. We have become more obsessed with having a shiny apple than with having an apple that doesn't give us cancer. We need to realize that nature really got it right."
