Ken Dryden is a Canadian professional ice hockey player, politician, lawyer, and author. A goaltender, he played his entire professional career with the Montréal Canadians. He has won six Stanley Cups, received 5 Vezina Trophys, and had many other honours that led him to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He is regarded as one of the greatest goaltenders of all time. A member of the Liberal Party, he was a Member of Parliament for York Centre (ON), from June 28, 2004 to May 1, 2011, and Minister of Social Development, from July 20, 2004 to February 5, 2006.
Ken is the son of Margaret and Murray Dryden, a philanthropist. His brother, Dave Dryden, was also a professional ice hockey player, and goaltender. His paternal grandparents were Scottish. He is married to Linda, with whom he has two children.
